Age of Conan The Lurking Horror - I. Folk Tales

Edit This Entry

NameThe Lurking Horror - I. Folk Tales
TypeCimmeria
Level28
Requires Items
Starting ZoneConall's Valley
Occurs in ZonesSpider Caverns
Related NPCsLurking Horror
DescriptionI need to investigate the cave where I was told I might find the Lurking Horror, kill the monstrosity, and recover monster parts as proof of its death.

TIP: The Lurking Horror is a spider mini-boss in the Spider Caverns of Conall's Valley.

SPOILER: Go up to the spider cave in SE corner of map. Go to the first big cavern and up the slope on the right.

Stay to the right as you go thru the next passageway because of a web tunnel near the ground on the left. It sends out lots of spiderlings over and over if you get too close and activate it. Not too hard to kill but annoying.

Once you get past that the tunnel opens up. In front of you is a hanging cocoon. Dont need to go there as it has the same result as the web tunnel previously. Instead bear to the left into another large cavern.

Once in the cavern stay to the left, past the ramp with the web at the top until you see another chamber with a cocoon hanging from it. This time you will need to deal with it. Kill all the spiderlings and work your way around till you exit into another large cavern and the Horror should be right in front of you.

You will need to kill lots of spiders all through the cave complex but they come in groups of one large and 1 to 4 spiderlings. By the time you kill the large one the small ones usually have taken a lot of damage and die quickly.

Tendrax <Guest>This quest is a massive pain in the ass. Really hard to find your way around i the cave.

After Killing the Mini-Boss.. <2008-06-09 02:46:05>
Ardal <Guest>You will get swarmed by massive amounts of "minions" and other spiders if you dont clear the way first.

not so difficult <2008-06-10 04:52:44>
llanosThe mini boss is an easy kill 26 ranger, fiind it in the middle of the cave, in a big web at most there may be two adds which should be pulled first. The loc is below a ramp that would take above and behind the boss.. NB it is difficult and frustrating if the mob has not respawned. hope this helps

Is this harder now?? <2008-07-13 23:14:21>
<Guest>I just tried to kill this lvl 28 mini-boss, and it killed me in one hit. The last time I tried it hit me for 2005, and I only have 769 health at lvl 31... Seems a bit much, since this was not marked as a group quest, and the quest is even green to me.
